A mountain chalet in Slovakia underwent a remarkably ambitious transformation. The reference point for the luxury interior was the classic Alpine chalet, with a French-inspired aesthetic subsequently enriched by design from the Netherlands and Belgium. We designed and delivered the complete lighting scheme, though it is the statement chandeliers by Moooi and Wever & Ducré that command the most attention.

What sets this Slovak chalet apart is its exceptional handling of materials. The furniture, wall cladding, and doors are all crafted from original timber, allowing the interior to play with beautiful textures while preserving the unique atmosphere of the place. We enhanced that atmosphere sensitively with modern lighting in the form of spotlights, wall fixtures with both upward and downward light distribution, and LED strips integrated directly into the furniture.
The sense of grandeur is further shaped by the statement pendant luminaires from Moooi and Wever & Ducré. The Moooi piece is the Raimond II in stainless steel — when lit, it evokes a starlit sky or a burst of fireworks, an effect multiplied by the reflections of the glass elements throughout the interior. Above the kitchen dining table hang the Wever & Ducré Wetro pendants, chosen for their gentle retro design. Together, they resonate beautifully with the earthy tones of the chalet and the history written into its timber walls.
I want to implement a similar project.
